It's a week to Valentine's Day, and while I don't particularly celebrate the day, I thought it would be a good idea to do a series of outfit ideas for valentine's day. So starting today, I'll be posting my take on simple, low on fuss looks for Valentine's. If you have any special requests for styling a particular look, send me a mail or comment below and I'd be happy to help!

Onto the look, this is nothing very special, just a simple printed dress. The easiest way to look girly and flirty, in my opinion is to wear a slightly flared or a skater dress. It instantly gives you a younder look and paired with simple accessories, can go a long way without the fuss of adding too many things to the look. I got this during my birthday shopping and I like how it has a cinched waistline. You can even do this with a belt if your skater dress doesn't have a belted piece like this one. The print in red added a litte interest to the outfit and I kept the rest of the accessories minimal to make the print stand out!

I can imagine wearing this look to a lunch date. I kept the makeup minimal (because I'm not very good at it) so as to avoid any unwanted melting while the weather plays russian roulette. I also think the bag could be replaced with a sling if you wish to keep your hands free while travelling. Also, again, big kudos to my new photographer who can be credited for the fabulous pictures and the attention to detail while taking these pictures!! Thank you again girl! Come back tomorrow for more look ideas!

Tips to wear a Skater Dress:
  • A skater dress looks best when cinched in at the waist. Make sure that this happens at the smallest bit of your waist to get a slim look.
  • Use skinny belts with interesting prints or contrast colors to make a monotone dress pop.
  • Make sure you are comfortable with the length of the dress. If you find it to be too short, wear tights! Remember, if you're busy checking if your flashing someone, you probably, won't be able to enjoy your date.
  • Wear minimal accessories if the dress has a busy print.
  • If you live in cooler places, you can layer the dress with a cropped cardigan. The cardigan should hit you around the waist where the flare of the dress starts.
  • And finally, enjoy yourself! Embrace the girl in you and twirl a little, release that child like joy you know is hiding inside!
